My personal goal is to inspire students to nurture their natural curiosity of the world.   It is important to me to provide opportunities for all learners to be challenged and inspired to reach for more.

I enjoy painting, gardening, golfing, taking photos of nature, and walking in the harbor.

My home and family:  I am a resident of Port Washington where I started Port Washington's Safety Town--a two week safety course for children entering kindergarten.   I have two children -- a daughter and a son who are young adults now.  My daughter, Caitlin lives in Port Washington. She is a School Psychologist and Guidance Counselor.  Her husband teaches high school science in Sheboygan Falls.  They have two children, Colton and Cameryn.  Colton is three years old and loves dinosaurs.  Cameryn just turned one year old and started walking.   I love being a grandma!

A.J. is married and lives in Grafton. He is a senior application development specialist at Northwestern Mutual Life.  His wife, Aimee, is a senior advertising account executive for Jacob Rost Advertising Agency.  AJ and Aimee have a very nice dog named Nala.  I call her my furry granddaughter!

I am originally from Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, where my parents still reside.  My five brothers and sisters and I were born in Minnesota.  Now my family lives on the east coast, the west coast and in Denmark!  We have a lot of fun using social media to stay connected.

My education and background:  This is my 20th year teaching in Grafton.   I taught sixth grade, kindergarten and third grade and fourth grade. I have a bachelor of science degree in Communications from UW - Stevens Point with a double minor in art and psychology.  My emphasis of study was public relations and advertising. Prior to this degree, I received a diploma at a technical school in Minneapolis, MN in Graphic Design.   After working at a variety of positions including serving as Director of Housing at Edgewood College and Co-Director of Human Issues Education there, I went back to school to become certified in Elementary Education.  My license is kindergarten through 8th grade and includes a computer science license.  I received my Master's Degree in Instructional Technology from Cardinal Stritch University, December 2004.   Most recently, I received training at Columbia College's Teacher College in New York in the Reading Workshop program in August 2011,  with a refresher course in August of 2012 here in Grafton.  I received training from Columbia Teachers College in Writing Workshop in July of 2013.   I am constantly reading and learning about best practices in my subject areas.  Most recently I attended technology conferences called SLATE and a Midwest Google Summit.    Ancora Imparo--As Michelangelo said in his 80s--Yet, I am learning!

This summer I went to Nashville with my sisters, my daughter
and my niece and her friend.   We had fun!
